Veronika Huber works at the interface of climate science, epidemiology, and ecology, with a focus on the impacts of climate change on human health. She is currently a Ramón y Cajal Research Fellow at Estación Biológica de Doñana - Spanish National Research Council (EBD-CSIC), where she leads the Climate, Ecosystems, and Health (CEH) research group.
Her research focuses on attributing health outcomes to anthropogenic climate change and evaluating the effectiveness of heat early warning systems and heat–health action plans in reducing mortality and morbidity. In addition to direct effects, she investigates indirect health impacts of extreme climate events, particularly those mediated through changes in ecosystems.
Veronika Huber was a contributing author to the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (Working Group II) and holds leadership roles in international initiatives, including the Multi-Country Multi-City (MCC) Collaborative Research Network and the Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISIMIP). She is actively engaged in science communication through media, public talks, and outreach.
