Pilar Pinilla-Domínguez is Programme Director – Methods, Research and Health Economics at NICE. She leads the strategic direction and oversees the development of methods, scientific policy initiatives, the research portfolio and the health economics function within the organisation.
She has over 14 years’ experience in technical and strategic leadership roles in the field of health economics, specialising in health technology assessment (HTA). At NICE, she has worked on the Technology Appraisals and Highly Specialised Technologies programmes, carrying out assessments. She has also been part of the NICE Advice team, advising industry on evidence generation plans, and has led the NICE International team, where she has advised governments in various countries on issues related to HTA and clinical practice guidelines.
Before joining NICE, Pilar worked at the SESCS, carrying out systematic reviews and economic evaluations for the National Health System.
Pilar holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of La Laguna, and an MSc in Health Economics, Policy and Law with a specialisation in Health Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam. She is Associate Editor of the scientific journal Gaceta Sanitaria, and currently chairs the Health Economics Association (AES), having been a member of its Board of Directors since 2020.
