Arce Domingo obtained her doctorate in Biostatistics at the National Center for Epidemiology in conjunction with the University of Valencia with an INPhINIT scholarship from La Caixa in 2023. During the doctorate, she conducted two research stays, one at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne (Australia), and another in the Department of Environmental Health at Columbia University. Afterwards, she was an associate scientist at the School of Public Health of Columbia University until 2026.
Since 2026, she is Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Data Science applied to Biotechnology at IE University. Previously, between 2018 and 2020, she worked as a biostatistician in the Department of Environmental Health at Columbia University. Arce's research work focuses on epidemiological studies of the impact of environmental exposures on human health, including the identification of potential intermediate mechanisms such as epigenetic deregulation, with a main focus on cardiovascular disease and cognitive decline. Her research also focuses on causal inference methods such as mediation, competing risks, large-dimensional data analysis, longitudinal data analysis, and target trial emulation.
Her research has been published in journals such as JAMA Cardiology, JAMA Network Open, Circulation, International Journal of Epidemiology, or Environmental Health Perspectives. Arce is co-founder and editor of the scientific communication medium Te lo dice una cientÃfica, awarded at the Masorange Journalism and Sustainability Communication Awards. She is also an active member of the environmental health working group of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology, which carries out scientific dissemination and political contributions.
